Can Arsenal challenge for a top 4 spot?

After a long summer for the gunners losing their best players (Robin Van Persie and Alex Song) can they really challenge for a top four spot? This is the team that played in their first game of the 2011/12 season against Newcastle that ended 0-0 :

In my opinion I think that the 2011/12 team is more stronger than the 2012/13 team, in 2011 they had the likes of Van Persie and Song but they have now both been replaced by Giroud and Cazorla. You could argue that Arsenals midfield in 2012 is more stronger that 2011 with the likes of Arteta and Cazorla in the middle of the park. Diaby had been a welcome return to the gunners who played very well in their recent game against Liverpool. When youngster Jack Wilshere comes back into the squad the midfield will be even more better with more competition.

What silverware is up for grabs for Arsenal this season?
  • Premier league
  • Champions League
  • Capital One cup
  • Fa Cup

What is the most likely cup they can win this season?
The most likely cup that Arsenal could win this season is the Capital One cup or the Fa cup. Liverpool managed to win the Carling cup (now known as COC cup) but failed to do well in the league, so Arsenal in my opinion have more of a chance of winning the COC cup and finishing in the top 4 in the league.

Who are Arsenal's rivals for the 4th spot?
The teams that will give Arsenal a run for their money this season for the 4th spot are:
  • Newcastle
  • Tottenham
  • Everton
The reason why I haven't put Liverpool in there is because I don't think they have good enough players to challenge for a Champions League spot.

How good are Arsenal's new signings?
Arsenal spent £40.5 million on 3 players this season (Giroud,Podolski and Cazorla). These signings are very good, Cazorla is a great player from Malaga and is very good on the ball, he could be a crucial player for the gunners this season. Podolski is another good player he will link up well with Cazorla and help set up Giroud to score. And the last man who signed is Giroud, many people think that he is a replacement for Van Persie but he is not. Giroud said him self that he is not as good as Van Persie, once Giroud gets his first goal for Arsenal then I think he will start scoring a lot more.

Thank you for reading, this is my first article about a different team other than Derby County. Feedback would be welcome.
