Derby have had a great start at Pride Park this season only losing 1 game, coming into this game the Derby fans were confident that the Rams could nick at least a point against Championship leaders Cardiff. In the first half both teams had started comfortably with Derby coming close from a Richard Keogh header but Cardiff managed to clear away. As the game went on Cardiff got stronger in the match, marking Jacobs very well they managed to keep him quiet all first half and didn't cause any trouble for Cardiff's defence. In the 11th minute Cardiff got their goal however it was undeserved for them. Helguson got the goal for the bluebirds who managed to head the ball home to send the 800 Cardiff fans crazy. Derby came close once at the end of the first half with Paul Coutts coming close but Marshall saved well.
Half time: Derby 0-1 Cardiff
Both teams started evenly in the second half with Jack Buxton coming close for Derby and Craig Bellamy coming close for Cardiff. But there was a big turning point in the game when Noone picked up his second yellow of the game and saw red. The Rams picked up and starting causing more of a threat, Craig Bryson managed to get the ball and then crossed it to Robinson who had the easiest of tasks to tap the ball home,1-1. The atmosphere started to pick up at Pride Park with the SE corner in full voice, both Bryson and Brayford came close for the Rams who were searching for a winner. With 6 minutes injury time Derby thought they could win it, Nathan Tyson came so close to getting the winner but his header was cleared off the line.
