Match Report : Denmark 2-3 Portugal

To me this was a pivotal game for both sides, a Denmark win would have more or less secured a place in the next round for them and Portugal had to win to keep their Euro dream alive.
The first half was a very poor one to start with for Denmark, bad defending led to the first goal from a Moutinho in-swinging corner firmly met by Pepe to header in from a tight angle and again poor defending lead to another Portugal goal, a good low ball by Nani picked out Postiga at the near post who left his man for dead and smashed it in the roof of the next, Denmark then got a lifeline when Bendtner headed into an empty net just 5 minutes before half time.

The second half didn't really come to life until 78 minutes when a fantastic cross was met by yet again Bendtner at the far post to make it 2-2 after Cristiano Ronaldo missing a golden opportunity to seal the game for Portugal, at this point Portugal threw as many players as possible forward and on 85 minutes it payed off as Varela took a beautiful volley at the second time of asking into the bottom right hand corner, after just coming on as a sub for Portugal, at that point Portugal parked the bus and saw out the game
